The story
A redesign of a 40-year-old travel quarterly — new masthead, grid and photography direction.
The brief
Atlas Publishing came to us with a clear ambition and an honest problem: the work was great, but nobody remembered it. They needed a brand with a point of view — something that could hold its own in a crowded room without shouting.
The idea
We built Atlas Quarterly around a single, simple idea and then pushed it until it broke. Every touchpoint — from the smallest label to the largest wall — uses the same few rules, so the system feels inevitable rather than decorated.
Typography does most of the heavy lifting. A custom-tuned grotesk sets the tone, while a quiet serif handles moments of warmth. Colour is used sparingly and with intent.
The outcome
The new identity launched across every channel in a single week. Within six months, aided recall had more than doubled, and the team finally had a system they could build on without calling us.
